Beginning on a Budget

Starting your photography career can be expensive. Walking into a store and being overwhelmed by prices, people looking down on you if you don't have the newest models, editing costs building up and renting spaces getting more expensive every day. This is what this article is about. Learning to get creative with photography and saving costs with a budget while still getting that perfect shot. So, what can you do?

Try buying a camera that was released a few years ago. Editing a picture can have an enormous difference with the end result, and a cheaper camera can still give you the picture you need to get there. Odds are, if you put two pictures beside each other taken with a newer and older camera, no one will be able to tell the difference.

Learn how to edit a picture. You don’t have to take expensive classes to learn how to use different editing systems. Practice every day. If you are serious about becoming a photographer odds are you have a huge selection of pictures to choose from. So, try out different effects depending on the kind of pictures you take, and the outcome can be professional grade. Using different effects can also help you build a brand by taking and editing pictures to your unique style. Take a look at the article "Can't Afford Photoshop? Why Not Try Pixlr" for another way to save costs on software.

Try taking pictures of people. Sounds weird right? But, people are willing to spend a lot of money to have their picture professionally taken which can be a great source of income for upgrading your set ups, cameras, lenses and systems. Corporate headshots, family photos or an everyday picture, try them all. You might be surprised how many people are looking for someone to do this.

Make a set up. Shooting outdoors can be problematic. Wind, lighting and bad weather can't be controlled, so make something you can. A simple bedsheet on a flat wall and some cheap lighting from amazon can give you the perfect controllable set up for photoshoots, as long as you don’t mind a little elbow grease setting it up.

So, don’t be afraid to pursue your fashion of photography. Initially things can get expensive, but with practice, taking your time finding the right deal and a little elbow grease, you can have all the tools for the perfect shot.
